If you have the points for the May 1st race please post them so we can see points per month and I can update the leaderboard on the front page.

Thanks,
Patrick
4  General Category / General Club Discussion / What's the goop on Parkzone kits? on: April 19, 2010, 09:42:46 PM
Anyone know what's the goop they use on the parkzone kits? It's white, rubbery and seems to stick well to plastics.

Thanks,
Patrick
5  General Category / General Club Discussion / Re: Are we pylon racing this Sunday, 4-18-10 ? on: April 15, 2010, 07:25:28 PM
No race.

It was on so I put it in the calendar then we decided at the last board meeting we would not deviate from the scheduled race set. Red or Adam may expand more here.

Agreed, no film. On paint I think we've allowed it so far, to keep things simple just continue to allow painting.

ok. I can paint it and make it smooth, I just cannot cover it in film and make it smooth. I'm not going to paint it, too much hassle.

I picked up an old fuse/wing from Guy and I should be able to hobble together a new model with parts from the existing machine. I cannot go buy a new wing, my T-28's become a 1 piece affair after crash 1 or 2, that's when all the plastic pieces on the wing/fuse joiner break.

Any of the usual films, for foam it's just a matter of keeping the temperature lower, and not allowing the iron to dwell for too long. I have a thin mylar that does not need a lot of heat. While I'd like to cover it, unfortunately I think it goes against the idea that this is a stock class.

Horizon will release details of the LR-1A tomorrow, flyers on the forums seem to be happy with it, looks like a quick and simple way to get into this class.

10  General Category / General Club Discussion / T-28 allowed mods. on: March 24, 2010, 09:18:31 AM
Our T-28 allowed mods are:

    - no modifications of any kind to the airframe (i.e. clipped wings or tail)
    - decals may be removed and personal markings applied
    - planes may be repainted

Instead of painting I'd like to cover it (let's face it mine is largely tape covered already!). Should we allow covering as an option in addition to painting?

[aside: anyone up to lobby to delay May 1st race 1 week, I cannot may it on the 1st  Sad ]

The  Turnigy 25 SK 35-42 1250Kv is actually $17 from HobbyKing, apparently that's what people are using.

Very nice. The $20/$30 motor/battery combo is significantly less than our Foamy warbird class where it's $65/($40-$60), and these models are ~50". Looking forward to seeing some of these going around our pylons.

I see the rules are here

Many thanks, I'll hopefully be able to get it from you this weekend.

15  General Category / General Club Discussion / Re: Trip to Ukiah Races on Sat the 16th. Who's going?????? on: January 16, 2010, 02:41:35 PM
On race 3 after the repair from the pylon hit in race 2 I was wondering why were the ailerons so weak? I figured it was all of the repairs and just turned up the rates. Turns out gears were stripped on one of the aileron servos so I was on one aileron. Need to look more closely next time.
