Thanks, Tony! How should those of us who did order hats get them from you?
2  General Category / General Club Discussion / Added number 2 to the fleet on: June 22, 2013, 04:38:19 PM
Well, it is number 2. So it is a fleet, right?

The yellow 3DHobbyshop Edge 540 weighs 5 lb 4 ounces and goes straight up.

The green Precision Aerobatics Extra MX weighs 3 lbs 15 ounces and goes straight up, faster.

An amazingly beautifully engineered airplane. I gave it a quick maiden today and it flew beautifully but it was very gusty so I didn't wring it out.

Are you guys finding thermal lift out there? Or is that just staying aloft on the battery alone?

That thing is really cool. Thanks for letting us know about the video.

Here is some more information - a report from an owner, with photos:

I was really enjoying that knife edge pass. I had done some rudder-to-elevator and rudder-to-aileron mixing on the transmitter that made the plane much easier to manage in knife. That was a depth perception problem for sure - I thought the plane was closer to the far side of the runway. I did learn something. When an electric plane flies into a tree, you can hear the "crunch" much better than with nitro. When you lose control and crash, sometimes it can be hard to know what happened. In this case, I was under full control. I know exactly what happened. It is all spelled out in the FAA report: "Ultimate cause of failure was tree-induced sudden deceleration."

Here's one more pic - note the tree trimmings in both elevator joints...

If this thing flies anything like the model in RealFlight, it ought to be a great plane. Looking forward to seeing it!
