What happened to the Memorial Day Float Fly?

This morning I load up my truck, get to the lake around 10:40, the gate to the CDF station is wide open so I cruise on in, only to find the gate at the dam closed and locked and not a soul around. Huy?.....what's up with that? Float Fly number 2, Monday May 26th, on Memorial Day seems to have vanished into thin air, or been cancelled.

Did I miss some damn memo or e-mail?

Red,

Okay, I got it. Reading one of your earlier posts about this event I misunderstood.
Yet still I throw it out there...you think you could come up with a newsletter article for next month?

It sounds like it would be very entertaining.

Wine Country Flyers kickin' ass!! This is awesome.
Let's see if I got this straight. Saturday was the Parkzone Warbird racing and Sunday was the EF-1?
Is that right?

Regardless, you guys did a fine job representing the club.

Could someone (most likely Tony for Saturday and Red for Sunday) send me an article detailing the experience for our next month's Newsletter?

I just sent out the April Newsletter....check your e-mail....but this would be perfect for next months edition. It's all about maintaining the stream of content, with plenty of content the Newsletter is easy.

Any articles submitted, and also photos...the more photos the better...will be faithfully added to my Dropbox account and saved forever. If I get inundated with good stuff I may have to spread it out a bit, but don't hesitate to submit ANYTHING. Submit something while your memory is fresh and rest assured that I will keep it.

It sounds like moving the race up to the 14th is reaching a consensus. How should we inform everyone concerned about the change? A bold declaration on the home page of our website -- by Patrick? Individual e-mails sent out to everyone who showed up at the first round? A combination of both? We need to make the decision official, and broadcast the change soon, so that everyone knows it. Maybe we should send an e-mail out to ALL the club members, informing them of this one-time change, so that anyone interested in participating is aware. I was expecting more participants showing up for the T-28 class at our first race. Maybe the windy weather held them back. Maybe the weather will be terrible on the 14th AND the 21st. Who knows? I just don't want to see potential racers showing up, finding NO RACING that day and feeling that our schedule is flawed and inconsistent, and never return.

If all you guys make the trek out there to race on the 21'st, attendance will be rather sparse at our own race day. I have no problem with moving our own race day up to the 14'th ( since the 28'th is a Float Fly day ) as noted in our latest Newsletter. We just need to spread the word, and soon, and make sure that all parties interested are aware of the change -- if that's what we do. I would hate to see people show up on the normal race day and discover that they're a week too late. Especially newcomers and out-of -towners like Will from Napa. That could tend to piss some people off.

Sign me up for a black one, L-XL
I hope we reach the 25 item cut-off.

Paul,

Count me in for a kit. While I haven't done much "building" to speak of, I figure even I can handle this.

8  General Category / General Club Discussion / Hey Patrick, what's up with the T-28 points matrix? on: September 13, 2011, 09:00:01 PM
Patrick,

For a couple months now every time I try to click on the latest points total for the T-28 class I get some
error message. What's up with that?

Try it yourself and see what happens. Maybe it's just me.
Could you please look into that. I'm curious to see where I stand in the latest points totals.

Thanks,
Dave
9  General Category / General Club Discussion / Are we pylon racing this Sunday, 4-18-10 ? on: April 15, 2010, 07:21:41 PM

Anyone know if we're pylon racing this Sunday?

I coulda swore I saw 4-18-10 listed on our site,
maybe yesterday, as a date for pylon racing.

And now I don't see it anymore.

Was I hallucinating? Maybe it was just wishful thinking
and I'm just going nuts.

Anybody know for sure?

   Hi Jon,

Since you're on-line, maybe you'd know the answer to this.
I realize that most of the mods, if not all, relate to the warbird
class...... but, are prop mods allowed in the T-28 class?
Not radical changes, but maybe prop "massaging", like sanding,
   smoothing, etc.

Don't worry, I won't tell anyone.  Grin  Grin

   Patrick,
Thanks for re-posting that info !!
Wow!! Lots of great info there. I hope
all that info stays up there, as I need to
read it, and read it again, several times, to
   let it all sink in.

I'm sure some of that stuff was common knowledge
to you fast guys, but it was all very enlightening to me.

Now I need to get some practice time in, and tweak my
radio setup, airplane setup, and flying techniques.
Of course just flying more often wouldn't hurt either.  Cheesy  Cheesy
   Practice, practice, practice.

   Thanks again, Dave M

   Adam,
Thanks for the reply. I agree that practice, practice, practice would be the best way for me to
improve. I just never got a chance to check out the "speed secrets" that were posted, and was
curious if some setup tips, or flying tips were mentioned that might be informative.

This is my first year trying Pylon Racing so I'm kinda just wingin' it.  Grin  Grin  Grin
I've got alot to learn. But overall I haven't done too bad.
I've only lawn-darted the damn thing once...... and clipped some vines......and a tree,  Grin  Grin

But it's all been great fun !!
There's still one more race to get more points !!
Maybe next year I'll be mixin' it up with the fast guys.

   Thanks, Dave

   Hello everyone,
Did anyone happen to copy or save the speed secrets that Red posted, before he got pissed off
and deleted them all? I was hoping to maybe learn something, and not be so damn slow. Maybe
   someone else could re-post them?

They were posted to a public forum so it wouldn't seem unethical. Then again, perhaps I'm wrong
and that would violate forum etiquette.

   Just wondering.
   Thanks, Dave
