I would like to invite the club and Families to my place for a Pot Luck BBQ on  Saturday August 17 @17:30
Over the years I have been both a “vendor” and a “Volunteer” at the Air show.
Usually the PECAM Volunteers get a  Little BBQ there at the Kaiser hanger on Saturday after the show.
However us Vendors  are not part of this.  Granted we Volunteer for our booth and such but are not actually PECAM Volunteers.
So this year I have decided to remedy this by holding a Pot Luck BBQ  at my place.
I will provide  BBQ pork spare ribs and a homemade Caesar salad.
Other salads, chips, dip, soft drinks deserts, etc would be pot luck.
I have room for flying small 3D or micro planes in the back, which both Merle and Glenn have flown here.
I would like all who are interested to please post a reply in order to keep the duplicate dishes down to a minimum.
Please let us know how many and what you plan to bring, be it chips and dip, a salad, desert, drinks, etc.
Please RSVP by Friday August 9th
Thank you and I hope to see you all there.

So please all who are interested bring your Foamie combat planes and join the fun. Please reply to this post and let me know if you’re coming out to fight.
Details are still being worked out but I need to Know who's going to fly.
Thanks. Merle and Julio can you bring your Battle Axe's, in addition for a quick flight demo?
Merle has agreed to supply streamers and string.

I would like to know if anyone is interested in a Combat Demo on Opening day May 19.
I'm thinking the foamie class again like we did before. and maybe merle, Julio and anyone who has a Battle Axe might do a quick flight after the combat demo. I'd do my Battle Axe but I dont think I can get it ready in time.

I have had some real good ones in the past, that would be good contenders,..but I think I will try to not enter this contest. Wink

Well I guess it was a success but I had some issues. my old corsair was rebuilt and almost ready to fly by 10:30PM Saturday night when I discovered my ESC was bad, not having a spare I was grounded.
Not to be deterred I brought my Corsair out anyhow which was a good thing, cause Merle forgot his TX for his Corsair. So I put my Futaba RX in his plane (mine was going nowhere) and the plan was for me to fly his plane with my RX/TX and he would fly his old T-28. well that was not to be. his old T-28 ended up with motor issues and then when he got that sorted out. his TX died( battery dead).
we ended up merle flying and me timing.
we had 4 pilots Merle, Bill, Dillon and Julio. no ribbon were cut however Dillon won the first heat by maxing the spot landing.  Julio crashed ( equipment failure)
2nd Heat merle was out as my TX failed on the ground( looking into that now)
Julio crashed (repair did not hold)
Dillon lost his streamer( no strike on it)
Bill won by default he was closes to the spot landing.
I'm very puzzled as to what happened to my TX, it dropped in the default FM(ppm) mode and would not go into 2.4GHZ at all. I think it may be heat related, cause when I got home later that last night it worked fine. Got a call into Futaba now.

I also have a PZ Corsair whitch was damaged in its last Dog fight.
I think any thing  Of that size and power (electric) would be perfict for the Dog fights.

After talking to a number of members on this I think maybe the first thing would be to start with a
"T-28" type class any parkzone foamies  using the same power system. ie: the PZ480 outrunner, 10 inch prop (stock) and up to a 2250MAH 30 C lipo.
5 minute rounds, 5 rounds. Scoring would be by the number of hits on any opponent’s streamer. streamers should start each round at ~15 foot long, tied to the end of a 3 foot string attached to the tail of the aircraft.  Beefing up the plane for structural protecttion using packing tape would be ok.
each pilot should have a spotter to count hits. Up to 6 planes in each round.
Now this is only a rough idea that I have come with as a place to start.
Please let me know your ideas maybe  we should have some sort of group to get this started.
