Let's ressurect some beat up trojans or corsairs and see if anyone is interested

Hey Merle-Sounds great. I wish I could be there, but I'll be on a motorcycle ride with the Oakland club. If this does get going though, I'll have a streamer on my T-28 and be in the mix.

You guys gonna get something going this weekend?  Looked like enough hands were raised at last night's Members Meeting to get quite a furball going.

I'll definitely be out to see it.

Also, the suggestion was raised that if we had streamers ready in the shed that impromptu Combats would be much more likely to happen. That's a great idea.  Is anyone interested in getting this started?

I think it was good start for the first combat. We can setup another one in couple of weeks when everyone is ready

Well I guess it was a success but I had some issues. my old corsair was rebuilt and almost ready to fly by 10:30PM Saturday night when I discovered my ESC was bad, not having a spare I was grounded.
Not to be deterred I brought my Corsair out anyhow which was a good thing, cause Merle forgot his TX for his Corsair. So I put my Futaba RX in his plane (mine was going nowhere) and the plan was for me to fly his plane with my RX/TX and he would fly his old T-28. well that was not to be. his old T-28 ended up with motor issues and then when he got that sorted out. his TX died( battery dead).
we ended up merle flying and me timing.
we had 4 pilots Merle, Bill, Dillon and Julio. no ribbon were cut however Dillon won the first heat by maxing the spot landing.  Julio crashed ( equipment failure)
2nd Heat merle was out as my TX failed on the ground( looking into that now)
Julio crashed (repair did not hold)
Dillon lost his streamer( no strike on it)
Bill won by default he was closes to the spot landing.
I'm very puzzled as to what happened to my TX, it dropped in the default FM(ppm) mode and would not go into 2.4GHZ at all. I think it may be heat related, cause when I got home later that last night it worked fine. Got a call into Futaba now.

I would like to know if anyone is interested in a Combat Demo on Opening day May 19.
I'm thinking the foamie class again like we did before. and maybe merle, Julio and anyone who has a Battle Axe might do a quick flight after the combat demo. I'd do my Battle Axe but I dont think I can get it ready in time.

That's a good question, Larry.

The Board meets again May 6 and a big topic will be the Opening Day agenda.  Lets see if you get a quorum. If so, Combat could be a fun addition.

To all Our potential Red barons out there. On Sunday, May 19, we will be having a Combat demo at the Opening Day.  Fomies will  take to the Air in a combat Demo. So please all who are interested bring your Foamie combat planes and join the fun. Please reply to this post and let me know if you’re coming out to fight.
Details are still being worked out but I need to Know who's going to fly.
Thanks. Merle and Julio can you bring your Battle Axe's, in addition for a quick flight demo?
Merle has agreed to supply streamers and string.

As I was talking to Larry at the meeting. We should organize a combat event in few weeks. We can have  only one electric class or do both electric and gas.
